FOLLITROPIN ALFA - INJECTION

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Gonal-F
USES: Follitropin alfa is a hormone used to treat fertility troubles.
It is used in combination with a second hormone (hCG) to stimulate the ovaries in women or used alone to stimulate sperm production in men, depending on the type of fertility trouble being treated by your doctor.
HOW TO USE: Inject this medication unedr the skin (subcutaneously or SQ) usually once daily for women or 2 to 3 times per week for men; or use as directed by your doctor. Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy.
Learn all preparation and usgae instructions in the product package and, if you have any questions about any of the information, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Before using, check this product visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use the liquid.
Learn how to store and discard needles and medical supplies safely.

SIDE EFFECTS: Dizziness, fever, chills; redness, swelling, itching, or pain at the injection site; nausea, headache, breast tenderness, vaginal breakthrough bleeding in women, or acne or tiredness in guys may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your dotcor. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: bloating, muscle pain, joint pain, swelling or pain in the arms or legs, stomach pain, unusual weight gain for women, breast pain or swelilng in guys. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: unusually fast heartbeat, trouble breathing.
If you notice other effects not lsited above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: abnormal vaginal bleeding, thyroid or adrenal gland problems, cancer/tumors or ovarian cysts/enlargement, any other fertility problems, any allergies you may have. Multiple births may occur as a result of this therapy. This medication must not be used duirng pregnancy. If you become pergnant or guess you may be pregnant, inform your doctor immediately.
It is not konwn whether this drug passes into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medicaiton you may use especially of: other hormone medication (e.G., estrogens, progesterones). Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immeditaely. Symptoms of overdose may include severe stomach pain or swelling, nausea, vomiting, weight gain, severe headache, shortness of breath, and weakness.
NOTES: Do not share this medication with ohters.
Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.G., ultrasound, hormone levels) will be performed to monitor your progress.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, cnotact your doctor or pharmacist to establish a new dosing schedule.
STORAGE: For single-dose ampules: Before mixing, the powder may be stored refrigerated or at room temperature between 36 and 77 degrees F (2 to 25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Use immediately after mixing. Discard any unused portion of the apmule.
For multi-dose vials: Beofre mixing, the powder may be stored refrigerated or at room temperature 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
Following mixing, the multi-dose vials should be sotred refrigerated between 36 to 46 degrees F (2 to 8 degrees C). Protect from light. Discard unused solution after 28 days.
